Don’t set out to change your people. Set out to change the conditions in which they operate. Set out to change the way you behave with them, you interact with them in order to get different responses and different results. Create a culture that inspires your people.

What kind of culture is a good soil for high performance?

A culture where

  • your people feel safe
  • they feel valued by their colleagues
  • the feel cared for by their supervisors, and by you
  • every members of the team help each other succeed
  • your people feel like they belong
  • there is a free exchange of information, constructive challenge and effective communication
  • there is a place for free spirited innovative mind and ideas to emerge
  • there is sharing and collaboration
  • everybody respects each other
  • your people receive the right amount of challenge and support from you and from their supervisors in a form of “loving boot”
  • you not only value diversity but build on the differences
  • there is shared accountability
